Just recently, we bought a king-sized Select Comfort Sleep Number bed. We're very happy with it. I know we're loving the king-sized aspect of it, but the comfort associated with the adjustable air cushion is fantastic. It took a few nights to find my Sleep Number, which is 55 by the way , but I'm sleeping comfortably now. I'm definitely not tossing and turning like I was doing, and my wife says she hasn't noticed me snoring anymore, either.
Just thought I'd mention this, in case any of you have been considering it. If you purchase one, you can try it for 30 days at no risk. Just pay the delivery/setup charge.

| Awesome zoom! I cannot stress how important a good bed is to people. I always hear people say, oh we'll just get a cheap bed for now, especially when they are newly weds but, that's quite the opposite of what they should be doing!
If people stop to think about it, they spend roughly a third of their life on a bed, sleeping!!! How can you short yourself out comfort during that third of your life???
ah well, congrats on your new purchase!!! Enjoy your sleep!

You almost sound like the guy in the store!! I believe it, though. My wife and I are getting into this "buy quality" thing with our purchases. We're staying put in the house we just moved back into, and the things we're buying are things that will last for years and years.

| I love your topics Zoom!
Thanks for the recommendation. My wife and I bought what we thought was a nice bed several years ago and it has turned out to suck. In fact, our old school bed that we moved into the guest room is still way better. If it wasn't a smaller size, I'd go back to it in a heartbeat.
I'll chat w/ my wife and perhaps we'll order up one of these as well.
One thing that we found that was odd with our current bed is the pillowtop. We bought one with a pillowtop thinking it would be cool, but it ended up doing nothing other than retaining our sleep stuff. The next bed we get probably won't have a pillow top. We had much better luck w/ the egg carton thing we had on our old bed.

| For shizzle. I just wish I could make some more time for it. 5-6 hours a night sometimes isn't enough! If only there were more hours in the day!! | |

We paid a fortune for our last mattress and it completely, totally sucks. My parents bought a cheap bed from Sears and it's much better. It really has nothing to do with the cost of the bed, that's for sure.
On that note, are the sleep number beds much more than regualr matresses?
I've been wondering about the sleep number thing. Thanks for sharing the info. I'd like to hear your thoughts on it in another 6 months or so too, if you remember!

I do that every now and again. Thankfully I'm my own boss so I don't have to explain things for too long!! Of course, when I'm not working, I'm not making money, so there's always that little conscious thing nagging at the back of my mind when I groggily wake up in the morning! haha.

Originally Posted by Quo On that note, are the sleep number beds much more than regualr matresses? | To be honest, I didn't really price 'em before we went to look at them. But, I expected them to be expensive. I've seen some upper-end innerspring king-sized mattress sets going for $1900 and more. Ours cost just under $2400, which included the mattress, foundation, and bed frame. If you're keeping the same size bed, you can just buy the matrress a save a few hundred bucks, using your existing box spring and bedframe. We bought the whole thing, since we went from a queen to a king. Check out their website: www.sleepnumber.com. They have pricing on there. If any of you guys decide to check 'em out, I might be able to get a tiny referral fee, so tell 'em ZoomZoom71 sent ya! (ok, they don't know my gamertag, but send me a PM and I'll see if there's something I need to pass along.)
Oh, and I've been told they sell these things thru the Navy Exchange, too, so if any of you are Navy Retirees, or otherwise have Exchange access, they are supposedly much cheaper than using the Select Comfort retail store.

Now you've got me visualizing Lindsay Wagner in their commercials saying, "My sleep number is 55. However, my pron number is 17."
