We are one huge step closer to having some rediculous laws removed!! The main one being we will No longer have to carry in plain sight while in a motor vehicle!! yippeeeeeeee
Senate passed HB347 by a vote of 19 to 10 an hour ago and it hits the House next and the word is it will pass with ease! It'll obviously take a few months to hit the books but its a step in the right direction!
Oh man this made my week!!!!
Oh, one bad thing is that the penalty for not notifying an officer that approaches you in an official capacity had been cranked up to a Felony. Rather strict but gotta take the good with the bad at times.

If you have any general questions, ask away. Im not familiar with all of Floridas laws but I wish Ohio had even half of what protects you.

The current law states that if we have it on our person while in a motor vehicle, whether youre the driver or passenger, it needs to be on you in Plain sight. One of the biggest problems is that police officers are sick of getting 911 calls with "Hi Im driving a semi and I looked over at the guy next to me and hes wearing a holster with a gun in it!"
All for nothing because the guy wearing that holster and pistol is following the law to the letter. Its just a pain in the ass for everyone involved.
If its not on your person, it can be stowed in a Locked glove compartment or in a locked case on an available seat in plain sight. It cannot be locked in a center console, go figure, lol.
Being in Plain sight on your body meant that by law, you have to uncover as you get into your car, and in some cases, people have seen this and get worried and call the cops. If they are bored enough, they can cite you with inducing panic and so on.
The same has happened when getting out of the vehicle. While covering up as you exit, it can cause problems. I myself do it while still in the car as Im sure most do but.....
Ohio is a Open Carry state which means you can freely walk around with a pistol on you, although its frowned upon. Infact many areas in the Cincinnati area observe this and it happens daily. Ive done it while walking thru some supermarkets and while I got some stares, noone was bored or worried enough to call the police thank goodness.
The beauty of staying concealed while in a car is that no more worries about the rules. Trust me, the police officers out there are clueless for the most part and know the laws concerning CCW as well as your grandmother.
Some officers are sick of the current Plain sight law so they helped to get the new law passed. It makes no sense to be able to carry concealed while walking around, but plain sight while driving? pfft
Oh and the same plain sight goes for Motorcycles too! How lame is that!
I carried in plain sight once when riding and never again! I had people rolling their windows down and threatening to call the police, lol. I turned around and went home asap. Man todays society is so screwed up.

Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Ohio | Upbringing and environment tend to go hand in hand in the end. I was hunting/shooting by the age of 8. Took my hunting cert class at 12 and the rest is history. Speaking of hunting, Im headed out for a day of deer hunting, actually only going from about 2pm till 5 so I get to sleep for a few hours. Mmmmmmmm venison! Would be great grilled up on Peenchs 4 Million dollar grill!
Or are you disagreeing with the right to carry in general? Everything else I stated was a law. Thats your right. Actually, carrying is a priviledge. Owning one is a right, carrying is another story
On another note, I am having issues with being employed by Kmart who prohibits any firearms on their premises, whether youre an employee or customer. They, as you know have merged with Sears(both companies fall under the name of Sears Holdings) and Sears allows conceal carry for both customers and employees. Im going to dig deeper when I go in tonight.
If anything were to happen, it would be when I leave at 6am, and I cant even carry Leaving it locked up just makes getting your car stolen 100 x worse. They now have your gun and that complicates things quite a bit so I don't recommend that 2 often.
Whats worse is that most home owners are killed when they enter their own home and are shot by their own firearm they left out. Thats the main reason I carry. I can put the key in the door and I have my pistol on me. I came home to an opened front door once with my dressers ransacked. Luckily I have a nice gun safe and they couldnt get into it. Thats not to say they didnt have their own weapons.
Good thing I didnt have high end theater gear back in those days!

I thought of apply for national conceal and carry, but that would only get me rights to carry in PA. I live 10 minutes outside NYC, so my trips to PA are few and far btw, usually to go to gun shows. In any case, I hope that we get some sensible legislators that change our laws soon, so that law abiding citizens can carry their arms around. Hell, all the criminals do.

Marksman as in sharpshooting? longrange?
Thats my Rem 700 VLS .308. All stock other than my own trigger lightening job I performed. Out of the box I can hit quarters at 200 yards all day! The furthest I've shot at is 600 yards and I wish I lived out west so I could shoot at 1,000 all day.
I'm getting some other rifles soon but thats for another topic
What guns do you have? | |

The Senate is in session this Tuesday to vote and all signs point to them overriding his spiteful veto as well. Damn I despise politics

Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Ohio | Ya know what sucks, you'd assume that WV would be more leniant than others, but they are one of the few states that when I drive thru, I cannot carry! It has to be locked and stowed! That irritates me!
Im going to send away for the PA and FL licenses to I have reciprocity with over 35 states. PA license is awesome, send away via snail mail(attach payment ofcourse) and they mail your the license within 2 weeks time which gets me another 15 states or so that honor me carrying
