While I'm not emamored by any of the current Presidential candidates (I really do like Palin however), I'm blown away that anyone would even consider electing someone that won't salute an American flag, and has even gone so far as to remove the American flag from the tail wing of his jet. Don't even get me started on the fact that he belonged to a white hating church for most of his life.

While I don't have the time to address that "e-mail forward," most of that is bullshit. It's things like that which make me extremely frightened for the future of this country.
Thankfully, because of nonsense like that, Snopes set up a page specifically to address make-up counter gossip. Please try to keep the talk on topic of the thread - which is the debates (or lack thereof).

Hardly. Obama does salute and say the pledge of allegience. His church is/was hardly "white-hating". He's half-white after all. His mom and Grandparents are white.

Why should we let these guys off the hook? These banks f'd up for issuing these loans to people they knew could not pay for them. I heard of this guy at work who bought a $250,000 house and was paying about $800/month, initially. After about a year and a half, his payment went up to $3200/month, He could no longer pay for the home and is now trying to sell it.
We are holding the people who can't pay off their loans responsible for their mistake, why should we pay off the lenders debt? They should be held responsible for their bad business practices?

Funny, I've watched a couple televised events where he failed to salute the flag during an anthem/allegience.

Having worked for a mortgage company, and now in real estate, I'm sure this anonymous homebuyer was given all the necessary documents, at some point or another during the course of his transaction, outlining all the details of his mortgage. Based on the figures and limited information provided, it looks like he got into some sort of Option ARM, and possibly experienced either 1)his ARM adjusting after a short amount of time, or 2)the reality of property tax adjustments on new homes after year #1. Disclosures of loan terms have been around for years. I believe a lot of these folks with these "bad mortgage loans" knew what they were getting into before closing, but were so happy about getting into homeownership without truly counting the costs, they made the decision to pursue these risky loans.
I don't detail this to remove any liability from the banks, because there's enough shortcomings to share with anyone. My only point on your post is that we can't let individuals off the hook for making bad decisions.

It's not like every time a democrat on PGL makes a strike against a republican, it's always combined with facts and extrernal references. I know you're a mod and all, but I truly hope that you don't begin to abuse your power by deleting posts that, in all your infinite wisdom, are a farce. Excuse my sarcasm there, Epyon, but it's not like the points in Alter's posts weren't good talking points. Maybe they were fact, and maybe they weren't. I know for a fact that if I were to research each point individually, I would NOT go to a site that many consider to be liberal biased like Snopes, as Wonder has done. Also, don't take offense to my comment at you, it's merely meant as a suggestion from one friend to another.
It may seem off topic as well, but is it truly? The topic started out as a thread about McCain attempting to put off the debates to deal with a National Problem at hand, and several people took the opportunity to let this thread spiral into a McCain vs. Obama thread, and as long as it doesn't become hostile, what's so wrong with that? We all knew it was inevitible, and only asked that we remain adults about it. I say, allow this topic to unravel. Either that or create an appropriate thread.

This is all, all the way back to the original topic, completely meaningless drivel. It's just political maneuvering and will solve nothing.
If one of these candidates wants to step up and provide a realistic solution to the mortgage scandal or the AIG bailout, or any of the other potential bailouts, or provide some meaningful plan to provide a secure environment for my family while reducing my tax burden... then I'll start listening. Until then, I don't care if Obama is green and goes to Scientology church or if McCain is 936 years old and takes money from a consortium of brothels looking to legalize prostitution nationwide. The idea of caring which church these guys go to is completely ridiculous to me, seeing as how they seem to have no moral fiber nor consciousness of a higher power whatsoever. If I thought either had a belief system on which they would actually rely to make decisions, I might be more inclined to worry about it. The only belief system that I see from either is "WhatShouldISayRightNowToGetThemToGiveMeMorePower-ism".
The other day I got an email from my little girl's soccer coach about how I should vote for Obama because he and his running mate graduated near the top of their classes in college (woooooo... Columbia and Harvard Law...) while McCain graduated at the bottom of his Navy class. All I could think was, "Why should I care?" It's that kind of crap that we get hammered with every single day. Meaningless junk that has zero impact, pushed to the front in an effort to make one guy look good and the other look bad.
