Game Guides

I have never been one to use game guides because I always looked at them as cheating, but recently I have been looking through my growing collecting of unfinished games and think that I will never complete them. So for that reason alone I am thinking of joining IGN so that I may download there game guides online instead of actually buying paper backs. Is this a good idea? Has anyone here ever used IGN's website for this reason? Is there another site I should look at they may be free of better worth my money?

I have done this as well namehater but I am looking for something that I can follow step by step to get through a few of the games quickly.

Woundup - I've always found step by step walkthru's with google's help. I've never had to pay for walkthrus. Try it first.

Hey as long as your game score stays below mine.

I will usually google the game and search that way, but I always fall back to GameFaqs.com, they seem to have pretty good walkthroughs there.

If you are shooting for achievements (they do have walkthroughs as well) check out Xbox 360 Achievements.

Gamespot has a pretty extensive selection of online game guides as well. Free. Some are better than others. Alot of them have scene pictures, etc.

Most of the IGN game guides are free to view online. The pdf and psp downloads are what require an Insider account.

the achievement guide site is pretty good for walk through stuff as well. I don't have an issue with walk throughs, but I use them sparingly. Mainly for little crap. I tried to keep to a minimum so I don't spoil the game for me.

Gamefaqs.com is pretty good. I usually use the guides for things like where the gold bolts are in Ratchet and Clank games, skulls in Halo 2 and 3, etc. You can get a lot of information from these guides. And you can tell that many of the authors put a lot of time into them.

I don't really see the using them to get through a game. I don't see it as cheating. I think it just takes the fun out of solving it for yourself.
