I'm doing this primarily so that we have a thread where all these amounts are in a single place for future reference. I've been posting the info in the Sony and Nintendo areas and they are spread out and I can't find some of the numbers so...
**I will update this after Nintendo has launched in Japan and Europe in a couple weeks. And if I remember, I'll update again when Sony launches in Europe in 2019!
1st off, so called rumors that developers/analysts circulated last Wednesday were not rumors after all....
1. Sony did NOT have near the 400,000 mark they said they had ready for the U.S. launch. I posted 2 days b4 the ps3 launch that developers/analysts said that 150 - 200,000 was much more realistic. Sony NEVER denied this info so immediately I knew it was probably legit.
2. Nintendo DID have between 400,000 - 1,000,000 units ready for their U.S. launch as promised. As of this moment, Nintendo has SOLD roughly 700,000 units in 2 days here in the U.S. alone!
In contrast, Sony has shipped and sold roughly 172,000 units in the U.S. in the past 4 days.
So allow me to post what Each respective company had ready for the 3 territories(*shipped* and *sold* will equal the same amount seeing as they ALL sell out within days[except for 360 in Japan, lol].
Xbox 360 launch:
U.S. = 360,000 (Sold Out)
Europe = 350,000 (Sold Out)
Japan = 120,000 (62,000 Sold)
Total Shipped: 830,000 Sony PS3 launch:
U.S. = 172,000 (Sold Out)
Europe = Zero (launching in 4 to 5 months)
Japan = 88,000
Total Shipped: 260,000 Nintendo Wii:
U.S. = 700,000 (Sold Out)
Europe = atleast 80,000 (Sold Out)
Japan = 372,000 (Sold Out)
Total Shipped: 1,150,000
Just for poops and giggles, Sony has sold 172,000 PS3s in the U.S. I'd like to see the ratio for copies of Resistance that sell. Why do I mention this? Because in the U.S. alone, out of the 360,000 360s that sold here, roughly 273,000 people bought CoD 2 if you recall. 130,000 copies of Resistance would have to have sold this weekend to match that(Not likely seeing as most were bought to slap on ebay).
