R.I.P. Tim Russert

Meet the Press has been a shining example of holding people accountable in the world of politics and a favorite in my podcast line-up. He will be missed.

Oh man, Russert died? That's too bad - he was always entertaining... While I don't share the same opinion of him as you do, I think he did have his moments (we are all neo-cons now not included).

I really like how he called people on their nonsense. Politicians really need to stop denying that they said something that they are on record as saying. It takes a lot of balls to say "I never said that" when there are multiple video sources showing you saying it. It is amazing the people that we elect into public office.

LOL even better than "I never said that" is the great line: "what I meant was..."

I fall for that every time!

This has bummed me out all weekend. Russert was a class act and a great friend to the American people. One of the few big time journalists who actually did his homework and pressed politicians. Geoff, I agree with you. He was one of the first to pull up the tape or quote of a politician and call BS on him or her.

He'll be sadly missed.

Totally agree, Russert was a great interviewer and, from what I saw of him, a realist who called out people on both sides of the aisle.

There are so few great journalists right now. He'll be missed.

I agree with you Quo, he had no reserves in calling out people from both parties. It has been a staple for my viewing or more recently podcasts to keep up to date on political issues. He was a great friend to the American people and hopefully they will be able to replace him with someone that will also take to task our politicians....
