Need some suggestions about sharing a video clip

I have a video clip that I took of me getting a double headshot with one sniper bullet the other night in Halo 3. It's in my file share now, but I'm wondering what the best way is to get it to PC so I can put it on youtube or something. Do I need a video capture card? If so, then I'm fubar.

I have an add-on for firefox that is supposed to allow me to download videos straight off a page like youtube, but it hasn't been working for me for a couple weeks.

Let me know how you guys do it

I've been trying to figure that one out for ages to record games onto my laptop, but everything I've seen says yes - you do need some sort of capture card.

There's some good video about it:
+ YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

I have not tried the Dazzle yet, as I've heard it sometimes doesn't work...

Justin,

You do need some kind of capture device, and some video editing software once you're brought it to your pc.

I use a HAVA device... it's sweet, does a great job. Captures any video I send to my TV and sends it to my laptop (or theoretically any computer locally or over the net, if my upload speed was fast enough... should be soon).

You can use almost any capture device out there as long as you are playing in standard definition, through like a TV-out. Thats a cheaper solution.

It'll take me a while to get to it, but you can send me the vid if you like and I'll capture it and send you the raw film fr you to edit up. Most of the video programs have free trials. Sony Vegas is unbelievably sweet for editing and they have a 30-day trial. There's a learning curve but it's worth it imho.

Good luck man!

well, I spammed the video to everyone on my list last night because I was proud If you wanted to get that video sometime Quo, that would be sweet! I'll have to look into those capture devices and decide if its something I want to get or not.

Well, the Dazzle IS the capture card/device thing, right? I'm not positive about that, so I don't know if you need to also have a capture card in your PC... since there's software with it.

I'm gonna go ahead & buy this Dazzle Platinum & see if it works for me. I haven't been able to find it in any store though, so I guess I'll have to order it (sucks).

IMPORTANT: The main issue I've seen about the Dazzle Platinum is with Windows Vista (which I have); apparently, you may need to d/l some driver as I've been reading in the BestBuy comments for this item.

Justin... k man, I'll get to it ASAP. I owe Supa a vid as well, and I need to do a recap vid for the Monkeyball event (now ancient). Hopefully there's some time tonight to get the raw footage for all of that set up.

Thornes -- just be sure before you spend the dough that you're getting what you think you're getting. That Dazzle device looks like it works great for standard definition, but you'll have to play in standard def every time you want to record something. At $90 (you can probably find it cheaper I bet) I chose to buck up and pay a little more for an HD option. Just something to think about.

And yes, the Dazzle is a capture device. The actual capturing is very straightforward, so don't be intimidated by it at all. If you're already on a decent router/network setup, I'd definitely consider going the HAVA route-- or slingbox may have a HD option as well now.

Didn't GameVee have a capture service at one point? I could've sworn I heard people talking about them doing something with Halo 3 video clips.

they had a beta going for a while on it... I don't know what's going on with it now, it doesn't appear to be listed on their website anywhere.

I'll check out the HAVA thing for sure. In that youtube vid I posted, they recommend getting the S video hookup (an extra 30 bones) for a better picture, but I also already have that amplifier thing from Radioshack. Thanks for the advice.

It also looks like I'd have to drop like $250.00 on HAVA... That's not cheaper Quo!

Looks like the wife has given me permission to grab the Dazzle, so I'll let you know how it works, Justin.

I never said the HAVA was cheaper... I said you could probably find the dazzle cheaper than $90, and that I went ahead and paid more for the Hava b/c I wanted HD output. Oh, and I didn't pay $250... I got it cheaper than that. There was a sale at the time.

Really, the Dazzle ought to work fine. I just didn't want to game in SD on a 65" screen. As far as the actual output goes there may not be a whole lot of difference...
