Late to the Party
or I'd been living under a rock, apparently. Just thought I'd share a few examples of things I recently discovered that everyone else and their mother apparently already knows.
Just today I picked up my first Daft Punk album, Discovery.
I'm really digging it and am planning on buying more soon. But then again, Daft Punk has been on the world scene for over a decade now.
Another example of how I miss things that other people are enjoying is Radiohead.
I heard my first Radiohead song last summer. Before that, nothing. And they're actually pretty good. Who knew?
And in TV, I saw my first episode of South Park last year, too. Like, 11 seasons and I'd never seen any of them. I had some catching up to do.
So I think it'd be interesting to see what other people have been late about discovering. Or am I the only one that's not up to date on these things.

I mentioned I'd never heard Radiohead to a buddy of mine at Purdue and he freaked. Stopped right in the middle of what we were doing. We went back to his apartment and he gave me every Radiohead album there is. Then told me which to listen to as a primer, since I'd easily be overwhelmed otherwise. I got more help from others along the way, like Dangerkitty. Everyone loves Radiohead.

I've never been a fan of Radiohead. I guess that's not quite correct. I should say, I've never heard them either.

Enjoy your Daft Punk! They are an addictive band, once you start listening, you're hooked.
As for being late to stuff, I'm usually late to the party when it comes to TV Shows. I just got into The Office a month or so ago, figures right as the episodes start to suck I get into it.

I have never played gears of war, I guess that counts as late to the party. Theres a band called "the refreshments" who's big hit was "the world is full of stupid people" who was retired for years before I caught wind of them. And theres a band called motion city soundtrack that put out there first CD in 2002 I think and I have just now heard of them and I love them......... But I dont know if that counts, I mean compaired to radiohead who has been around forever. Thats all I can think of right now.

-Rep for this one. The episodes are still hilarious in my opinion. However, if you want to get into it, buy the dvd's starting with season 1. They go on sale every so often for dirt cheap. Season 2 will knock you off your feet if you haven't seen it yet.
As for myself being late to the party, I was late to the party with Lost. Wife and I are on season 3 now, about to finish it. Then we'll be figuring out a way to watch season 4 without waiting on the DVD's to be released. We only started earlier this year from the very beginning. It's a wonderful show.

I watched every episode over a 2-day span where I got nothing done, and I clearly noticed a drop in quality during Season 3 and into Season 4. They've jumped the shark. Season 2 ruled though.
