How bad are you with money?
This one's for the PGL Undisciplined Crew. What's your total unsecured debt? Unsecured, in that the debt wasn't used to purchase something you can physically touch. (Home mortgages, car loans, boat loans, and the like.) Include numbers like credit card debt, judgements, student loans, etc.

Zoom, I love you, but what's next? Are you the disposed Zambian king who just needs me to wire him some good faith money before he turns over the royal treasury?

Yes, I'm secretly tracking how people are voting, so I know who to trim from my Friends List.

That's too personal to share. You haven't even shown us your banana yet.

Too long ago, Pickle. Heck, I'm not even sure I have the energy for that level of activity anymore. haha!
My wife and I only have our combined student loans to payoff, then we'll be done with debt. We currently owe about $27k.

I've got a Credit Card story to tell.
I had a CC once with a limit of 5k. After I had some engine trouble with an old Rodeo of mine, I spent almost 4k (on my CC) replacing it. I ended up maxing out in no time. About 4 Years later, I was still making the ~200$ minimum payments and occasional fees from not paying on time (money was tight) bumping me right back up to about 5k every month. I was going nowhere, just paying 200 bucks a month to a credit card company and not even getting debt paid off. Finally, after my wife and I got married, we received a fairly large gift of money. The debt was IMMEDIATELY paid off, and my personal credit went from poor to exceptional (I think it was either 725 or 735 when we bought the house). Life got so much better after that. Every credit card I've ever owned got shoved into our safe and forgotten about. Neither of us plan on ever touching one again... especially me since I have a harder time than she does not using them.
Anyway, that's my story and why I hate Credit Cards so much. I don't ever want a Credit Card or a Line of Credit again. All they are is trouble for a guy like me.
Now that I've been away from that kind of debt for almost a year, we've got Bonds, CD's, Savings Accounts, 401k's, and other investments. It's amazing how much less stressful life is without debt.

Credit cards have helped me through this time of no income, especially when I have needed work on my car. The store is 25 miles from the store, so public transportation or a bicycle isn't really an option for me. Those would add an extra 3-4 hours to my day and my time is worth more to me than that.
Other than that, I am pretty good with money. I rarely impulse buy. I usually know exactly what I want, what kind of use I will get out of it in relation to price and take good care of it once I have purchased it to make sure that I get the most use out of it. I hope that doesn't mean that I am an adult... that would suck!
