Just Bought a Mac

I just ordered a Dell desktop. My Dell laptop has lasted me 4+ years, and is still running strong, but I need to move on. I am going to be doing a great deal of work with virtual machines, so I need mass RAM and a big hard drive. Upgrading a 4 year old laptop is not something I want to be a part of.

Here are the specs:

• Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6400 (2.13GHz,1066FSB) with 2MB cache
• 4GB DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
• 250GB SATA II Hard Drive (7200RPM)
• 256MB ATI Radeon X1300 Pro
• 20 in Widescreen Flat Panel Display
• Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition

Just thought I'd share. It's been a while since I've gotten to mention my PC specs without shame. I'm going to be getting Office 2007 and Vista Ultimate in late April, for the cost of 2 blank DVD's through school, so I'll be ready to roll soon. I'll also be rocking the dual monitors.

I can't stop checking the status of this thing. This will be a long week.

Nice. I need to get me a new PC. I'm tired of desktops so I;m going for a laptop. We need laptops that we can update components in though. Like vid cards, sound, etc. Why hasn't this happened yet? Just give us little access panels on the bottom. I hate the idea of being stuck with a laptop's aging hardware and not having the option of performing some upgrades. It's so Mac like. Just through it away and buy an entire new system. HP actually has a laptop where you can add a second HDD to. Which is sweet.

Thanks, sorry for the misleading title... just wanted to eff with the Mac kids. I really would have rather built my own, but I already have an account with Dell... and financing is easier right now.

Hopefully I'll dabble in some minor PC gaming. If nothing else, I want to try out Windows Live. Years later I'll also be about to finally play all the cool PC games I watched my friends play.

Hey Crippler, Asus is releasing a notebook box that is supposed to allow for pretty significant upgrades. I read about it on Engadget recently (I think last weekend). If you want to go to their site and dig through their archives, you'll be able to get more info.
