Newbi GOW seeking help

Hi Guys,

I got to admit, I am very new to the GOW multiplayer... and has been getting my ass kicked for the past week. So I thought I start a discussion so everyone could provide their own little technique. I am sure you guys had similar threads, but it never hurt to refresh everyone's memory right?

Since I simply don't aim that good, for a couple of games, I force myself to use just chainsaw, and amazingly, my scores improved dramatically. I think it is because I am not distracted with all these weapon switching and such and just focusing on chasing after people with chainsaw. This is just a suggestion for newbie such as myself.

I was wondering what the deal is with shot guns? I use it but never seem to be able to hurt anyone. But when someone else use it on me, it seems very effective. Should I am or not? if so where should I aim? does shot gun stun you? how far is the shot gun's range?

Wow, techniques. I am only mediocre, so I can't offer anything too grounbreaking, but one of the key things that will help your shots be more effective is learning to time your active reload perfectly. If you can nail your active reload you will get a huge boost in damage for all shots you make after that point for a short amount of time. This is key. If you have an active reload and your opponent doesn't, you will take them down.

Aiming is tough. You have to learn how to shoot while aiming and also shoot without aiming (i.e. without holding down the left trigger).

The shotgun is super powerful - too much so IMO. I never use it because like you, I suck at it. I am always getting shot with it tho. To counter the shotty walk backwards and shoot at the opponent's head. If you start early enough you can take them down before they get close enough to take you out.

Watch out also for Alpha's running, rolling and shotty trick. That's a one-shot kill for sure and there's really not much of a counter for it.

Using the chainsaw works wonders if you can get close enough. If someone shoots you while you are revving up though, it will bring your saw down and you'll have to rev it up again so watch out for that.

When the game first released most people were using cover like it was intended in the game and shooting as people ran around, etc. Nowadays most people online simply rush and try to shotgun everyone. It's not quite the same game, but still fun.

I've found that Annex is a lot of fun b/c it is different than simply running around shooting everyone. Sure there's that aspect, but trying to take or defend a territory is super fun.

That's all I can think of for now, I'll let some of the more skilled players pipe in and offer their suggestions.

Use the pistol, two quick shots to an enemies body then one melee attack and they are down. Against a group of idiots its possible to down the whole team in seconds.

When using the shotgun only aim(left trigger) when you actually want to fire a shot, if you hold it your movement will be slowed down while your aiming and make you an easy target, so keep moving around and then quickly press and release the left trigger when you wanna take a shot. My friend has pretty much perfected this technique, and is impossible to kill when your near him and he's using the shotgun.
If your really really close to an enemy you shouldn't bother holding down the left trigger to aim, just blindfire..chances are you will hit.

Well My Run & Gun Technique is Still good and works But My Run & Shoot the Gun as soon as I stop Running Has been taken out during the darn Update. Basically you find things out along the way. Im not much of a sniper, Im Average at torque but the Methods i use for each weapon makes me a little more skilled with each. I definately try to use my surrounds, Like what peench said My Rolling and Running with shotty happens when Im enclosed With walls around me. Like in Rooftops near the Stairs with those Blocks, Sometimes I get stuck 2 on 1 there, And they Try to trap me in a Corner But if you hit A while they are in front of you and there is a Wall behind them, your Guy will Zoom right Between them and you could have a nice back shot. I rarely aim with the Shotgun Unless Im waiting around a Corner, or behind cover. NEVER use shotty from a Far, thats just dumb, use a pistol or your machine gun.

Try to keep Moving, and when your in a Jam Run like hell. To Start Running in a specific direction HOld A and the Direction you want to go and HE will automatically Turn that Way and JET. Dont keep your head poking out, And have a Strat for yourself, if you have people who like working as a Team Tell them what to Do cause often times They will go do there own thing. If they dont Want to listen or play as a Team you could do 2 things, Wait and try to sneak around to kill people without them seeing you and use Teammates as bait, OR pick 1 guy and Follow behing him and be his backup. Try to always Revive and remind them they owe you Their Life (MY FAVORITE).

Before Picking up weapons you know people like to rush, WAit for them to Pick it up and Then Run out of cover with your shotty and Blast them to bits. if your fast enough they Should Almost be done picking it up or still picking it up. Just run up to them Until you run into them and in their face and point blank blast with shotty. For the Torque bow try to predict where They are going and shoot infront of them, plus use the Torque and Boomshot in Narrow areas like Masoulem hallways.

Maybe Doolz will teach you sniper, Bob Saget will teach you Torque, Mahkilla will make you master Chainsaw(Magnetic Chainsaw), and I will show you the Run around.

Run around and Trick people is what i do good, I do that For almost every FPS.
