After this past FNFF, I was REALLY unhappy w/ this game (GoW), even to the point of selling it. But, the more I thought about it, I realized I just need more time to learn how to play. So, since my only gaming time happens on Friday nights, I'm gonna take a break from FNFF for a few weeks, until I can complete a large majority of the campaign. Perhaps, then, I'll be able to keep up w/ you all, who have nightly affairs with your 360 consoles.
Carry on. | |

Stop playing MP which discourages you and try SP on casual or hardcore for poops sake! Man I hope this industry doesnt shift to everyone demanding MP, a great single player/coop game is where its at for me and always will be. I wish they didnt even bother with MP for Gears. I see it as Backwards compatability, dont bother because resources are wasted and no matter what you do, you wont please anyone. They could have put more time into the campaign and made it even better. Imagine Condemned with MP...time wasted that could have gone towards the actual story. No Thanks. Wow Im irritated, bad night at work
I would never judge a game that was built around a single player/coop campaign because its MP didnt thrill me or I wasnt as skilled as others, but thats just me. Now if it was a MP only title like Unreal Tourney or something...
For those that are new, MP is an after thought in Gears, Its there to please those who dont feel inclined to play single/coop(nuts). I hope they dont ruin part 2 like they did with halo 2. Its obvious that Halo was all about single player story, and part 2 did an about face and the campaign became an after thought while MP was put front and center. If Gears 2 suffers from the same fate Halo 2 did(my personal opinion), I will be an avid MS/Epic hater and go back to spending 400.00 every 5 months on pc cards!!!
Im going to bed! | |

I've only played and completed 1 Act on SP. Shame on me, I guess.

| Zoom, I can see how it can be frustrating for those who don't quite know exactly how to play. Those of us who play it a lot definitely don't make it easier, either!
Hopefully you'll get through the Single Player and become good enough to be able to enjoy yourself when you play with the rest of us!

Carry on. | Don't feel bad, while I love shooting games, I tend to suck at them when I'm playing on live against other people. I do real well in the coop mission modes in GRAW and R6 Vegas, but when it comes to any kind of deathmatch or team deathmatch I just plain suck. When playing Call of duty 2 or 3 if the game is set for 25 kills to win, when someone has 25 kills I usually have around 4.

If two or three matches end up at 3-0, the teams are stacked. It might be ok fun for the winning team, but the team that is getting thier teeth kicked in is having no fun. Plus it makes it very difficult to learn while being chainsawed to death before you even fire a shot.
Having balanced teams makes it more fun for all, and the better players can help the other players out. So dont play in games where the teams are not balanced! Except for the tourney. Just bend over and relax like the rest of us during those three matches! (Although there might be a good battle for 2nd place!)

Don't be discouraged! I often avoid playing online b/c of my innate suckage on games, but I have found that a bit of practice, knowing the maps, and figuring out strategies w/your teammates can go a long way in a GOW MP session. Hell, you may even get to curb stomp Wonder ....

| I like the MP although I haven't played for a while. I was sick on the FNFF two Fridays ago and I couldn't play any of the games for more than a few minutes without feeling much worse. Even Viva Pinata. And thsi lasted for several days which sucked. It's one thing being sick, but then I couldn't play the games. Then with the holiday I haven't touched GOW in a while now. I'm looking forward to playing it again later this week if I can find the time since I'll be pretty busy at work through the end of the year. Hopefully I can make it to FNFF this week. Not sure since I have to go in at midnight sometime thsi weekend and get some work done while they have a scheduled server outage, but unfortunately the schedule seems fluid. | |

I know how you feel. I was excited about the game but after awhile of playing MP and starting SP campaign. I just have no motivation to even play it at all. I try but that's about it. It just doesn't grab me I think it is due to the monsters and insects - I don't know. This is one of the reasons why I didn't jump into Halo 2. Halo on the PC was fun but it got tiring with the same old stuff.
The game is a bit monotonous or repetitive. It reminds me of Table Tennis in some ways which I sold. Other shooters grab pull you into the story and give you something to remember to comeback and play. GOW just doesn't do it for me. I'll admit it, I fell into the hype of it thanks to the great PR.
The only thing I see that the game can do for me is achievements. But I really don't know when I'll play the SP campaign.
Having Wondermonkey2K hand you your a$$ isn't fun either. Been there done that.

Gears just requires a whole lotta practice, a whole lotta time.
