On several occasions, CliffyB has been asked about a follow-up to Gears of War but he has avoided confirming a sequel but it seems that Microsoft is already counting on a Gears of War trilogy.
In an interview with GameDaily, Jeff Bell, the Corporate Vice President of Global Marketing for the Interactive Entertainment Business unit at Microsoft, has accidentally confirmed that the publisher plans a trilogy of games set in the Gears of War universe. Speaking on the “Mad World” commercial, Bell said: "The goal of this ad is to establish Marcus Fenix as the hero of the Gears of War trilogy."
There you have it, straight from the horse’s mouth. Like there would be any doubt that the fastest-selling Xbox game ever and most-played title on Xbox Live would not get a sequel...

I'll feel better when it's confirmed by Mark or Cliffy or Peter but I have no doubt it'll happen.
I never thought MS would get so many great exclusives and get their hands on the other big selling cross platformers they previously had to wait 8 months for! This generation is turning out better than I had ever hoped for!

| A GoW trilogy would kick mucho ass. I guess Bioware had the right idea with Mass Effect, Too Human is doing it and now Gears. Sony better get their heads outta their asses, MS is stockpiling exclusives. | |

As the battle is joined, Microsoft execs are smart enough to understand that they've got some weaknesses to shore up in their Xbox business. And they've been working overtime to do so, primarily by securing as many exclusive third-party games or exclusive content deals as possible. Electronic Arts' FIFA and Konami's Winning Eleven soccer games, which are both popular in Europe/PAL territories: exclusive through Fall 2007. Take-Two's Bioshock, an Ayn Rand-meets-Jules Verne first-person shooter than won many plaudits at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in May 2006. The next installment of Ubisoft's Splinter Cell. Downloadable content for Grand Theft Auto IV. All locked up by Microsoft corporate vice president Peter Moore, his indefatigable team, and Uncle Bill's bottomless wallet.
Moore's job, however, was made easier by the fact that for the greater part of this year, PlayStation chief Ken Kutaragi hadn't finalized the business terms for independent publishers on the PS3. And without that, he was reluctant to greenlight any expenditures on Western third-party exclusives. In previous generations, Kutaragi's slowness hadn't been much of a problem because the first two PlayStations launched in Japan 8-12 months ahead of North America, leaving plenty of time to nail things down with Western publishers. But with the PS3 launching in North America just a week after Japan--and a year after a fiercely competitive Microsoft--Kutaragi's tardiness became a major issue.
We've learned that Take-Two and Rockstar Games were interested in continuing their longtime relationship with Sony, in which they premiered their Grand Theft Auto games on PlayStation platforms exclusively for 6-12 months before bringing them to other systems. PlayStation's Japanese headquarters was effectively radio silent, and without Kutaragi's signoff, the normally independent American and European branches had no authority to reach agreements on the exclusives they believed could be valuable to the PS3 cause.
While Kutaragi dragged his feet, Microsoft's top brass called these third-parties almost daily, asking each of them, "What would it take for you to publish these games on 360?" Finally, the executives could wait no longer, and both Take-Two/Rockstar and Ubisoft cut deals to make their games available on Xbox 360 as well as PS3. None of the 3rd party executives we spoke with would address the matter directly. One source, who asked for anonymity because of the sensitive nature of these negotiations, says "I do have to give Microsoft a lot of credit for going after titles and doing whatever they can to generate third-party support. They've been magnificent in this generation."
SCEA executives were no more eager to address these charges head-on. "I don't want to get into confidential discussions with another company," says Tretton, "but there was interest on Take-Two's part to bring Grand Theft Auto onto Xbox platforms. We wouldn't encourage them to do that. The interest came from them."

Now that the game has received rave reviews from (almost) all publications and become the fastest-selling original Xbox game of all time, Epic Games has decided to talk about potential sequels for the game. Even more, they ask why they would have to make only three games. In a post found in the official Gears of War forums, Mark Rein commented:
Gears is a trilogy? If we can keep making quality games that fans obviously then why would we have to stop at three? I don't see the Metal Gear Solid, Mario, Grand Theft Auto or Final Fantasy series (among others) stopping at three and they're still delivering compelling entertainment content that's easily worth the money (see Unreal Tournament as well). There's definitely, as many of you have pointed out, a lot more to learn about what's really happening on the plant Sera and in the lives of the members of Delta Squad.
But before Epic Games starts working on a Gears of War sequel, they have a great game that is screaming for new content. Rein added:
In the mean time we're working hard to support Gears of War (the first one) and come up with some great enhancements you'll hopefully see before too long. We're not ready to provide any details yet but I assure you we're on the job. | !!!!!!!!!!!!
Bring it!!! Source | |

While it's a challenge and sometimes a pain in the ass, I actually find it much easier than I expected. And since Cripp has been playing SC more now, I've been going it alone (sorry homie, I need me fix).
Bring as many quality games as you can make Epic, as long as they are bad-ass, I don't care if it's a trilogy or a box set.

They could have made it harder. I think COD2 Veteran and GRAW's hardest level (both of which I never finished) was much tougher then this. However, I'm enjoying the game!! I would like to do some more co-op just to have that fun.

| Woundup and I agree as well. The Insane difficulty isn't as bad as I was expecting. Veteran on CoD2 was a lot harder. Even the GRAW hard difficulty gave me more trouble, thus far. | |

| I haven't played insane yet, but I recall Cliffy saying they had to tone down the difficulty level quite a bit b/c the last boss was too hard to kill on insane. | |

| Yeah, Insane isn't as hard as I thought it would be. Me and ProPain got through Acts 1,2,3, and all but the last part of 4 in about 5 hours. It was only frustrating when they split you up. | |
