| Gears Gameplay Help Figured I'd spark up a new thread for gameplay help...
My first question is - dealing w/ the A button and mantling (jumping) over objects.
Am I missing something here? Is it possible to mantle over something WITHOUT taking cover on it first?
I think the biggest example is with the fountains. I want to run up to it and get inside of the fountain and THEN take cover. All I've been able to do so far though is run up to it (or walk up to it), take cover, mantle over it, and then take cover again.
How do I get inside of there w/o covering first? Has anyone been able to do it? If so - HOW?
Thanks | |

| you essentially have to do a double tap of the A button when you get close enough to something to jump over it. It still ever-so-slightly drops you into a cover right before it jumps, but it's still faster than completely getting into cover and then jumping. It's a little hard to get used to, for sure.
This game is all about timing, and once you get the hang of the timings for certain things, like the active reload, you'll be sittin' pretty!

| THis is the BIGGEST and most IRRITATING problem For me. NOT in the campaign but in Versus. Because Im trying to get away from a Melee attack or someone Shooting and in some of the maps you have to Jump on these platforms to get to the second level of the map and you always have to get into cover which leaves you open for 2 seconds then mantle. But a Chainsaw or a Shot to the Head with sniper or anypart of your body with Bow Will Catch you. I have this same problem and you cant Mantle without Any getting into cover first.
I believe i asked this question twice online in every game that I\ve entered and people always tell me they have the same problem and find it stupid that you can't jump over a slab of concrete without hiding behind it first. IT sucks that you cant do it especially if your being flanked and chased.

| Greetings No Limit! Welcome to PreGameLobby!
Anyway, yeah, I can see how it is frustrating, and maybe I have it all wrong and have been doing it that way the whole time... but, I think I've either gotten used to it or I've figured it out... regardless, it doesn't bother me anymore.

| Hmm... I'm too scurred for that method...
I was just hiding in one of the side pocket things and throwing a grenade at the door - then running through it after it blasted.
How do you get the monter to smash it?? I know they're supposed to detect motion and smell... what do you do? Pee on the door???

I found this fight pretty easy, the only problem was f*cking Dom kept getting hurt. I kept having to run back and revive him.

Dude is owning me. Anyone have any tips? I've got a sniper and the Lancer, and if it's not his goddamn "bodyguards" that are killing me it's him.
Try to leave out plot info for the folks that haven't gotten there yet.

| It's been almost two weeks, so I guess it's time for me to ask another n00b GOW question.
How do I know what ACT / Chapter *I* am on??
In my friends list I can easily see where everyone else is at, but I have no idea where *I* am at in the game. Not very far - I know that... matter of fact I just did that thing where you are riding in the lil mining cars...
So how can I tell where I'm at in the game - and as a related follow-up, seeing as there is only 1 save in the game, if I go to "previous" chapter, do I have to do the whooooole thing over - or am I able to get right back to where I was before?
