Penguin United DS Lite Ultra Soft Silicon Jacket

As likely one of the last remaining hold outs, I finally broke down and purchased a DS Lite. I got a great deal on it compliments of our very own PGL member CharlieGirl. She included a hard case in the deal that provided great protection for the DS Lite as well as an area to store 6 additional games. The clear case is great, but ads quite a bit of bulk to the otherwise svelt DS Lite. So I looked at additional options.
One product that leapt out at me from the many options available was the Penguin United DS Lite Ultra Soft Silicon Jacket. Perhaps it was because Penguin United is a member here or perhaps because it looked so simple, yet spot on as what I needed. Whatever the reason, I had to have one.
The Ultra Soft Silicon Jacket comes in a simple package that shows the color of the silicon jacket you have chosen. In my case, the white/clear color:
As with most Penguin United products you are warned against eating, burning or stepping on your new Ultra Soft Silicon Jacket.
Penguin United offers four colors to choose from: white/clear, black, pink and blue/grey.
The Ultra Soft Silicon Jacket is packaged in clear plastic to protect it from damage during shipping. The Ultra Soft Silicon Jacket consists of two covers – one for the top of the DS Lite and one for the bottom.
Installing the Ultra Soft Silicon Jacket was a breeze. I simply slid one end onto to the top of my DS Lite and the other onto the bottom. I did have to make one adjustment as I was not sure if the strap for the bottom cover went on the top or the bottom. But that was easily cured and I was up and running in less than a minute.
The beauty of the Ultra Soft Silicon Jacket is that it creates a second skin for your DS Lite. All ports remain open and accessible while your DS Lite is protected from scuffs, scratches and the like.

The Ultra Soft Silicon Jacket is, as its name suggests, ultra soft. I found myself rubbing my DS Lite just to feel the soft silicon protecting its DS innards. So people stared at me, I don’t care. What matters is that it was soft and I enjoyed it.
The beauty of the Ultra Soft Silicon Jacket is that while your DS Lite is protected, you can simply open it up and play without having to remove it from another pouch. Your gaming bliss is instantly accessible at any moment without the additional delay caused by removal from an external protective case. When you are done training your brain in just minutes a day, you can simply close the DS Lite content in the knowledge that you will be able to train another day.
While the DS Lite Ultra Soft Silicon Jacket is soft, supple and provides great protection, it could stand to fit more firmly to the DS Lite.
While the Silicon is soft, it is also a bit rubbery and grips fairly well. Putting the DS Lite into my pocket for transportation resulted in the Ultra Soft Silicon Jacket sliding around a bit. There was never enough movement to cause concern about damage to the DS Lite, but there was enough movement to require a realignment every so often before inserting a cartridge or turning the DS Lite on or off.
That is about the only complaint I can make about the otherwise well rounded Ultra Soft Silicon Jacket for the DS Lite by Penguin United. At only $9.99 with an additional 15% off for PGL Members, who wouldn’t want an Ultra Soft Silicon Jacket for their DS Lite? I am happy knowing my DS Lite is protected while always accessible for instant gaming. And on top of everything else, my daughter loves the little Penguin on the cover too.
