Holy Lego Blocks Batman!

Warner Bros. to finance, publish vidgame

The hottest word in the videogame world is, apparently, "Lego."

Following the huge success of "Lego Star Wars" and its sequel, Warner Bros. has signed a licensing deal with Lego to produce a "Lego Batman" game.

In a significant, and likely costly, pact, Warner also nabbed TT Games, developer of the two "Lego Star Wars" games, to make "Lego Batman."

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will fully finance and publish the game itself, as well as handle all distribution in North America.

"Lego Star Wars" titles, both of which sold several million units in the U.S. alone, were family-friendly games featuring characters and settings from the "Star Wars" universe made out of the famous toy bricks.

"Lego Batman" will follow a similar template, and Warner will release it in 2008 on multiple consoles.

Vidgame is one of just a few that Warner is publishing itself, rather than licensing to outsiders. Studio recently released a game based on "300" and has a "Looney Tunes" title coming out this fall. A "Dirty Harry" game was expected in 2008, though the studio recently ended its contract with developer the Collective, which may delay the game's release.

from Variety.

Lego Batman, who'd a thunk it?

By the way Wonder, which ambiguously gay duo boy are you, Wayne or Gary?

Gary!

It's not so ambiguous anymore though... sadly.

If this is half as fun as Star Wars, I'll be all over this. And if Dangerkitty can play as Robin or Batgirl, even better. She had a blast with Star Wars, even though she spent most of the time killing me.

Isn't there talk of a Lego MMO? But they had not come up with a setting for it yet?

sounds like me and my son. And it's dead on, Star Wars was a blast. Hopefully Batman will be just as good.

I have very fond memories of Lucasarts games I've played in the past. They were always very amusing and the humor was always great!

I might even buy a video game system to play this game instead of just borrowing one. Batman + Lego's = Holy Awesome Video Game Licensing.

I hope this turns out like Star Wars - that game is Great.

I would like to see a Lego Lord of The Rings game, Could be pretty cool I think.

Speaking of the Star Wars game - Is that a game that you can play live? I notice on the cover it have the "Live" Logo so just wondering.

Lego Batman would be freakin sweet! As long as it's not Lego Clooney or Lego Kilmer; yuck.

I LOVED Lego Starwars... I thought the who concept was a great idea, and an excellent franchise indeed! But here comes a new story, relating to a Comic Book character. I just hope they bring along the slapstick humor with Lego Batman... They can count me in, as I'm a fan of the bat cave...

So many.... blocks...
