| That's not a bad price if it included shipping Worm. You can consider that a wash if you take into account you spent doing the auctioning and so forth, compared to time finding a retailer with a PS3, gas and wear and tear on the car (or what you may have to pay someone to take you), and your time.
As for markups, you might be surprise how much of mark-up items have at retailers. One of my buddies use to work at GoodGuys and he informed speakers where marked up around 100% (ie the cost to them was 50% what you paid); I use his employee discount which was employee paid cost to retailer. So I spent half on my first hometheater speakers compared to consumer joe; it was sweet. Heck, I work at a pizzeria and we charge double our cost on drinks.
I think where people get a bit un-nerved is hear how someone paid not $1200 for the 20G version, but over $2000. I think most people expected the $1200 mark when it was released. If memory serves me right, PS2 we going for double MSRP on various action sites. Since the PS3 we going for so much, people "see" a greedier side of people, and no one likes other people being greedy; some people are out if it is them being greedy. So if people are preceived as greedy, we tend to enjoy through misfortune of not being able to see their product at a profit and potentionally at a loss. We like seeing the bad guy loose.
In regards to the PS3, I just couldn't understand why someone who pay so much for the system or wait in line so long when the games release we, at best, lack luster (Restistance being excluded). I understand if selling for significant profit then it's a question an opportunity cost question. |
