I downloaded the trial today and noticed the laggish pace that it seemed to have. The look and story were pretty entertaining but I am still not sure whether or not I am going to pick up the full game. If it were $10 then definitely but with this price point and the future episodes probably being the exact same this could easily turn into the most expensive game I have ever bought.

I'm at the end of this game, just have to beat the last boss. I thought the game was/is pretty good over all. The story is funny, (not for kids though), and the game play is fairly decent. There are a few things they could use in-game to fill it out a bit like respawning enemies. Really the only part I didn't like about it was the fact that once a bad guy had been taken out they were gone for good. It advances the game and story much quicker which, for some, can be a good thing but for guys like me who like games like this for level grinding and "getting stuff" it ends far to soon.
I'll definitely be picking up the next episode as both the humor and game type are right up my alley. Also the story is good enough that I'll want to know how it plays out in the next episode.
So over all a pretty decent and rounded game from the folks at Penny Arcade. And with a little tweaking I can see some huge possibilities for future titles from these guys.

I've never read Penny Arcade before, but I bought this game over the weekend and actually like it. It's done very well is is actually kind of funny. I just spent the last of my 1600 point cards. I haven't seen them on sale in a long time. I used to be able to get them on sale for $10 to $14 dollars which was a good deal. Hopefully they will have something on Fathers day so I can get 16K points(10 cards) at a good price.

This is a great example of why XBL subscribers should form a union. Just imagine the power that us as consumers could hold over this (or any) industry by refusing to buy games at over inflated prices. Maybe its not fair to call the price of this game high, as I have not even tried the demo, but as Lord Geoff broke it down, $80 for a game with no replay/trade in value is B.S.

As a rule, I try to only rent games released by EA because of their track record for rushing out unfinished games and the crap they charge you to download. If more people refused to purchase this stuff, they would eventually go away or step up to the plate and release high quality, finished games. Please note that I have no problem paying for DL content if it is reasonably priced and of good quality.

My biggest problem with digital downloads is that you are paying for a product that you never actually own. Its like telling a buddy that for $20 he can borrow your New Kids on the Block CD anytime he wants.

If I download a game, I can never bring it to a friends house or lend it out, neither can I sell it once I'm done with it and create revenue for future game purchases. That is the reason I suspect that developers are embracing the digital download route. Higher profits by eliminating the ability to try out a game before purchasing and eliminating the rental/used game industry.

With digiatal DL games, businesses like GET YOUR GAMEZ, GAMEFLY and even BLOCKBUSTER and NETFLIX can kiss their arses goodbye. No more renting anything anymore. I just don't like the Idea of having so little control over my own posessions.

I see these bigger and more expensive digital format games as the industry attempting to exert more control over how we play our games and I don't like it. Enough people already have their hands in my pocket without adding another.

It is a RPG. Rule of thumb states that RPG has no replay value. Unless it is the greatest game in history. Mass Effect is not a real RPG, it is another Halo with a sandbox effect. This is the new way of releasing games without big name stores cashing in with the we buy game for less than what you paid for and sell it at a huge mark-up.

I agree that the potential for nice savings on purchases is there when you cut out EB or GAMESTOP, but I just don't believe that they will be significantly cheaper. M$ is going to want a nice cut now that they are distributing the games (the shareholders will not let that oppurtunity pass) and the developers will want to see a piece of the profits that the game stores were making.

Dude, nothing EVER goes down in price unless the demand is gone and I doubt the demand for games will ever do that. Maybe we MIGHT see a $5 price cut, but its not a good trade for the lack of trade in value or convienece IMO.
