HD DVDs
Hey guys, just wondering how often you get HD DVDs in your store? You only have 3 at this point. I recently bought the 360 add on from game crazy for around 20 bucks. I was thinking about adding some cheap titles to my collection since not many people will want them anymore.

Boy, that has been an interesting thing to see... the high-def movie formats just don't do anything for us. We rarely get any in and even more rarely see them go out. We have actually recently made a bit of a change in our buying and pricing for those that you will see in the future to bring them more in line with their DVD counterparts.
They are pretty much in the same category as UMD movies for us. When you buy them new, they are usually significantly more expensive than the DVD and people looking at them seem to balk at paying the premium. Our UMD movies started selling better once we aligned them with the DVD prices, so hopefully, as we move forward with this format, they will start rotating out better.
We also have that little problem that anything PS3 seems to be cursed here at this store. We have a really tough time with it, even selling games that are $60 new at $40 used. Some of you may remember back when we had our break-in in Jan of 07 that the thieves broke through the window by the PS3 section, passed by it and stole all of the 360 stuff, even leaving a new PS3 sitting there. Crazy.

Are you guys cursed because of me? Technically, I was the first person to buy a Bluray movie from you guys (Planet Earth, $30, awesome price), and now I feel responsible. Is it because I'm black?

Well, tell you what Goeff and Sam, I'll get everyone here to buy a PS3 from you guys, but we're only going to pay by credit cards, LOL. Just teasing.
It's crazy hearing/reading about your business. It's an eye opener every time.
The sad part, I'm not surprise to hear about the lack of movement of HD movies on either format. There just isn't a big enough installation base yet. I think it'll come the holiday season when you see blue ray players going for $200. To the general consumer, I don't believe they see enough difference between blue ray and DVD to justify a higher price, nor do I think there are that many people with HDTVs; this may change on or after February 2009.

Just throwing in my 2 cents which is basically worthless around here...
That being said, I am also interested in deals/used HD content.
I also have a PS3 without any games.
Would it be a pain to throw up a quick list whenever a batch of new stuff shows up? If all of us turn out to be cheap and don't pick anything up then it may be a fruitless effort. But sometimes I just forget to cruise by your store and browse.
I have to admit that I have been eyeballing MotorStorm at $29.99 and I have also been waiting for Blue Planet and Planet Earth to show up used and in HD.
I won't name names, but someone here robbed me of that prize several months back and I have never forgiven myself, or that nefarious individual.

Not at all! We've done it with a handful of items that we get in our store, namely when we get a handful of Blu-Ray and/or HD-DVD movies, but I will make sure to make mention of any and all that come through Cool Stuff.
