They're going for the feel of camp, but it never gets there because Captain Mal always keeps you grounded in reality. It's definitely a high production movie, with better special effects than Hostel. If anything it's an homage film, that if you watch camp on a regular basis, you will quickly pick out things they reference.
The special features are almost as good as Shaun of the Dead's as well, but just gets close enough... | |
