but blockbuster is doing the same shit where you can.
online que 3 movies....
take those in and get 3 more movies in store...
so essentially you can have 6 movies out cause when you return it to the store, they check it in, and your next qued movies come on their way.
then you get one game a month.
for 4 bucks more then we're paying for the 2 at a time from netflix
we're thinking about switching, the only thing i have a bug about is selection cause netflix had a great selection of asian horror movies and thats pretty much all i rent, but blockbuster has 65,000 titles and im pretty sure when i joined netflix they boasted 70,000.
any opinions on these? | |

From the sound of it, they are starting to see the error of their ways, but brilliant films like Y Tu Mama Tambien and This Film is Not Yet Rated weren't stocked by Blockbuster.
what Blockbuster used to do is require their version be cut to an R-rating. That's when I stopped using them. Imagine if a book store only carried the Reader's Digest version of great novels.
I do like that you can return to the stores though, but honestly, I never want to set foot in a brick & mortar rental place ever again, so that doesn't really appeal to me.
I'm a Netlfix nerd though, and I've never had an issue with them, and they get some exclusives too.

Seriously, like Monkey said, netflix has an outstanding collection with all sorts of niches and genres...they also have an excellent selection of hd and bluray titles.
The store front option has almost lured me to the dark side several times however.
All of this may be obsolete in a few years....they (netflix) signed a deal, several months ago, for more bandwidth to support their digital services.

I was actually going to try the BLockbuster one too I like the idea of being able to get a game. I was also thinking of maybe GameFly or something like that. I saw on my Frosted Flakes GameFly was giving a 30 day trial.

You also still get the printable monthly coupon(s) that are good for game rentals. I'm on the $9.99 a month, one at a time plan, but as fast as they are at sending them out, plus the in-store swap, and the free game a month, I feel I am getting a good value. We probably watch about 6-8 movies a month.
They are no longer editing movies, and have a bunch of NC-17 stuff. I don't think they are going back and buying older titles though, so if naughty old NC-17's and unrated flicks are your thing, maybe Netflix is the better choice. You pervs!

(Actually, I snuck in and edited his post-added a tag he missed- and made a comment. He was just acknowledging it. I shouldn't say anything, I should just let our leadership look like a muttering wierdo...)

Actually, I just got burned so many times by showing up with a rental from them only to have the nerdy behind the counter charge me a late fee (when I turned my last movie in, I made sure it smelled like urine - the guy actually held it to his nose & sniffed! haha). After I gave up on them, I swore I'd never use them again.
I'm on the one movie at a time deal. I've let them sit for a month on my counter & I've rolled them over on a near daily basis - so it all works out for me; cheaper than Hbox (that's HBO for you slow ones), don't have to go all the way to the store to find out they don't have what I want (even when the guy on the phone said they did - urine sniffer), and have more than enough to choose from.
Bust down to one & save yourself some cashola.

| I joined Netflix when they debuted the unlimited rental time when I got my first DVD player. Heck, I'm grandfathered at 4 movies out at a time.
I've actually had pretty postive responses when there was a problem. They gave me the first two months free, and waived the shipping fee because I complained I had three promos coupons for various items I had just bought. Didn't get a movie timely or something, they would send it out again; they movie would eventually show up and I would end up with 5 five movies for short period.
Not that it's negative, just a quirky response I got from them was over a movie I got in full screen (I prefer wide screen). Rather than send me the movie again, they sent the next movie in my que.
As for movies, there are only a few movies they never got such as Neon (the European release of The Professional), and a few released DVDs such as Pulp Fiction.
I get my movies pretty quickly. The head quarters for Netflix is about an hour away from where I live.
They are debuting downloading movies. They've started it, but it isn't available for me yet.
If they had games, it would be nice. If it was part of the service I have for no extra cost then I would use it. Otherwise, there is gamefly. I just don't play enough different games to make that service valuable for me.
And the few times I got to brick and mortor place, I just get one of those rent and get one free. But that's about once a year.
I can't comment on blockbuster. I haven't used them in over seven years. Heck, I don't even know if my membership is still active, LOL. I hate for them to ask my phone number, LOL.
