Because Keezy really liked this and I try to base my life decisions off things that Keezy likes, I decided to check this out on HDDVD over the weekend.

I had given up on Scorsese a bit, unfortunately. I didn't care for The Aviator and I despised Gangs of New York. My favorite Scorsese film to date is Who's That Knocking at My Door, followed closely by Taxi Driver & Goodfellows, so I obviously wanted the bad ass gangsta Scorsese back.

I'm glad he made his return with The Departed. I thought this was recently one of his best. I actually enjoyed Marky Mark in it too. Amazing. Kudos to Alec Baldwin for being the funniest part of the film though.

Who else saw this? Thoughts?

I haven't checked this one out yet although I think I want to see it. I too hated Gangs of New York. Although I liked The Aviator... I'll have to see it now based on your recommendation.

My recommendation wasn't good enough??? We even have the same last name. We're practically family. Adolf Müeller didn't cross the Rhine and come to America so that his family would become divided!

I picked up the DVD last Tuesday, but haven't had a chance to check it out. I'm hoping to pick up on even more of the movie the second time through. I'm tellin ya, Marky Mark continues to surprise me.

I have to say, he surprises me too.

I never thought, as I saw him perform on-stage with the Funky Bunch in 1992, that he could ever be in a Martin Scorsese film. I just had such an overwhelming desire to beat him silly. Who knew?

mark walhberg is awesome. he's actually on my top 10 of actors no matter what people think...dude's an awesome actor.
i liked this movie. My only complaints was it needed more badass killing, and the twists...so much it made it like they were trying too hard.

The Departed was my favorite movie of last year. Marky Mark was my favorite character.

Your right Wonder, Alec Baldwin was funny (great). Swaggers right about the twists but dang it I love'em. Two thumbs up for this one and I haven't even seen it on HD-DVD yet. I got it but have been to busy. Should be slightly better than the bit torrent I dl'ed and watched on my laptop.

Oh and can we ban anyone who spoils the ending, cause I hadn't heard and it blew me away.

I got it on "old school" DVD. (I'm waiting for an affordable HD combo player) Fell asleep in the first 15 minutes. Woke up halfway through and backed up to the beginning and watched it all the way.

Loved it! I never saw that ending coming. Departed has more twists and turns than the Nurburgring.

Awesome movie, I was really impressed by all the actors in it. Ok, it's a Keezy-approved, D-Litch-nominated, MadBryan-recognized, Swagger-preferred, WonderMonkey-endorsed, DMiller-okayed, MadBryan-sanctioned, TomG-touted movie. Everyone in the PGL go get it!

This movie had been recommended to me from numerous people, so I think it's going to be a Blu-ray purchase.

I saw it at the theater. I picked up the HD DVD, I mean BD( this was the first title I chose BD over HD DVD) Anyway was it a good transfer? I already know the movie is excellent.

high def digest gave it a 4.5 stars out of 5, for video quality! So I assume it's gotta be pretty good!

Yeah, I'm a fan of Scorsese too. I love the anger in his shit. I have to check this out.

I liked the movie, but didn't love it. I thought there were too many problems with it, and things that didn't end up paying off.

Now, I also believe that we will see a Director's Cut of this flick, and that little details will make a lot more sense.

I'd probably give it an 8.5 out of 10. I still think Children of Men may be the best film I saw in the last year.
