We've reported on every single little rumor that's come out about Futurama's return. We've asked Billy West, who couldn't tell us anything definitive one way or the other. But -- finally! -- we have some confirmation that Futurama is indeed coming back.
And we can thank Craig Ferguson for it.
When Katey Sagal visited The Late Late Show the other day, she told Craig that the show is coming back to Comedy Central in 2008 for at least 13 episodes (I was watching that appearance, too. Must have slept through that part). Don Kaplan of the New York Post confirmed this; his sources told him that all the primary voice actors signed new deals this week. Also according to the article, FOX may have the option to air the new episodes, but probably won't. The new episodes will also come out on DVD after they air.
I just have one reaction: Huzzah!

| Woo! The movie was as mediocre as could be, and I miss my sitcom storylines. | |

And was PISSED when they took it off [Adult Swim]. I agree with D Litch though.. We've seen almost everything in Bender's Big Score on the series. I didnt laugh at the movie near as much as I laugh at the show. It seems like they kinda just phoned in Bender's Big Score. Project Free TV :: movies
For anyone who hasn't seen it

Also, I couldn't disagree more, they came back in movie form with more confidence (and better jokes) than we've seen in any of the episodes - and the amount of things that the movie explained about the series made it worth it alone.
That said, I do like Beast better than Score, but only because it's funnier.

All of the inside jokes made me laugh, but there was little beyond that.

The whole Fry/ Leela romance angle has never really been that interesting for me and ATTENTION MATT GROENING! The Year 2000 bit has been done to death. You've beaten anything entertaining or funny or even watchable out of it a long time ago. We've been back to the New Year's Eve 2000 like 15 times already. I was sick of it after once.
Excepting that, I thought it was still good stuff, but Futurama has definitely had better moments. As always, my favorite moments are Bender's.
Bender: "Quick! Follow that guy! There's an extra hundred in it if you follow him so close your run him over."
Wonder, you've seen Beast of a Billion Backs?

And the year 2000 is the crux of the show, so I find your complaint completely invalid (and infuriating, not enough to challenge you wildly to 2 on 2, but close. I can understand, maybe, if they just went back for no reason, but the simple fact that they went back so Fry could live the life that he lost (which the whole show was based off of) was fantastic. The movie changed everything that you felt about his freezing, because now, he lived it out. This my good sir, is what good science fiction is about. It changes the dynamics of the original story.
You sir, are under thinking it for once.

You sir, are under thinking it for once. | I agree with you for the most part, that at least it wasn't just will-e-nill-e, going back for the sake of going back. It did feel integral to the story.
But It's just, this is a sci-fi. Anything is practically posssible, but instead they chose to go back repeatedly to the same event over and over again. You literally have the whole universe in front of you and you chose to go back to what the episodes explored 4 times at least. I will say at least that this was one of the better "2000" stories, at least.

Are you trying to tell me that anything is possible in a story about a delivery boy that froze himself for 1000 years? Reeeeaaaaaaalllly? [/sarcasm]
And to be fair, they went back to the year 2000 for one day, the rest of it (2012, 2020, etc.) none of you have ever seen before, so don't even lie like you have. Liars. Epic Liars.
