Bioshock movie coming

Found this on Joystiq this morning and I hope this turn outs to be a great movie. We know they should be able to have a decent storyline

Variety reports that Universal has signed a deal to turn Bioshock into a movie. Director Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean) will head the project and Aviator writer John Logan may write the screenplay. Take-Two executive chairman Strauss Zelnick, who was in charge of Fox in the '90s, handled the deal for his company and says the project will actually get made ... unlike the Halo movie.

There's also an interview with Verbinski on Variety's Cut Scene blog where he discusses the project. He believes the movie will be rated "R" and says, in terms of the Little Sisters, that he'll take the issue "right up to the edge," not wanting the core audience to feel "betrayed." Though no release date is currently targeted, Verbinski says he'll start pre-production when Logan's script is finished and approved.

this is either gonna be really, really good or really, really bad. If they can stick to the story and characters it has a chance to be the best video game turned movie of all times

Verbinski has a pretty good shot I think. He did turn an amusement park ride into a good feature film, regardless that the sequels didn't quite match that. He doesn't seem to dumb down his directing either.

Let's have a vote. In a movie do you want the protagonist to kill the Little Sisters or not?

I didn't in the game, and so I think I'd enjoy seeing the other side of the story.

There's no chance they're killing any of the "Little Sisters". Not if they want to reach out to the non-gameplaying movie watchers, anyway. That's just my opinion, though I'd watch it either way.

I agree with snake. This could either be awesome or really ruin the story for us all. I hope it turns out to be awesome. Gore Verbinski is a local guy and went to school with a few of our friends. Hopefully he can crank out something great.

Good question Epyon. I agree with Cause I think, but they could take the movei in an entirely different direction by killing them off. Maybe they could write it in a way where some are killed and most are saved? That might be interesting.
