Special Tonight

At the risk of sounding political, I wanted to let you guys know about something I heard about that's on TV tonight.

Tonight on Glenn Beck on Headline News at 7, 9 and 12 EST there will be a special on the Middle East and Islam, and how the culture over there reacts to America.

Whether or not you believe it was good/bad/immoral/great/whatever for our troops to be in Iraq, I think it's a good idea to be informed about the goals and intentions of other groups/nations when it comes to the U.S. and its allies. There's rumored to be quite a bit of content from Al Jazeera on this program, specifically with regard to the level of anti-Americanism and anti-semitism over there and whether it's mainstream or on the fringes.

Anyway, I'm not advocating any political position here. There are tons of places to discuss politics, and this is NOT one of them. So I don't want to start a politcal debate. I just wanted to point this program out. If you're interested, check it out. I always wonder if we're getting the whole story on what's happening over there... maybe this will shed some light.

Just kidding, I actually was planning on watching this. If you wonder whether or not we're getting the whole story from over there... We can't even film caskets of kids coming home in our own country, just imagine what we're not seeing.

I've got my wife in there watching this show right now. Call me unpatriotic, but I honestly have no real interest in knowing what's going on, besides what I get from Boortz, Limbaugh, and Hannity. And, truthfully, I've got no answers to it all, other than my silent vote. My daily life is already filled with enough drama to spend an extra few hours worrying about how I could be killed. I've got to search for a new job, I've got a kid on the way, I've got rental properties to manage, I've got to learn how to lead a squad in Gears....I could go on. Not trying to sound lackadaisical, (probably butchered the spelling on that one) but I just don't care to exert the effort into keeping up with all that crap. I believe there are others better suited for the task. Sorry.

I listen to Glenn Becks AM radio show for laughs. Kind of obnoxious in an entertaining kind of way. anyways, I'm more worried about over here with the Democrats than I am about over there

I missed the program, for those that did see it, anything worth sharing?

I didn't watch it that night but I did tivo it and hit the highlights later.

The show was, as usual, overhyped. I don't think there was anything in there that we don't already know really. The main points seemed to be:

• Radical islamic factions want to kill Jews
• Radical islamic factions want to kill Americans
• Radical islamic factions want to kill each other
• There's a lot of brainwashing about martyrdom in the Middle East, and it starts for th ekids when they're in grade school or younger.
• Radical Islam isn't radical over there. It's mainstream.
• Probably most importantly, the leadership of Iran is totally subservient to radical islam. The president of Iran wants to start WWIII, wipe out the Jews, and kill Americans to bring about the return of the Islamic messiah.

All very interesting, but probably nothing you haven't heard before. It'll be interesting to see what Iran does next, that's for sure.

Religeous wars and death in the name of religion has been around forever. Unfortunately.

You are correct Peench. Every few hundred years the religion changes, but the intolerance doesnt.
