Comcast On-Demand Movie Prices

I was thumbing through the On-Demand movie listings the other night. I noticed that all the regular pay movies are no longer $3.99, and are now $4.99. I guess I missed the notice in my monthly Comcast bill. I suppose continually raising the monthly subscriber rates aren't enough for them. Now, we have to pay even more for an unreliable movie ordering service. (ever notice how the service is having trouble when you really want to use it?) Anyway, Netflix is looking much more attractive. How does Comcast expect to compete?

The Video Marketplace on 360 looks better ever day. My VOD went up also and I have no option of HD VOD with my provider yet. Right now, 360's HD price is the same as my provider's SD version.

The announcement was in the bill about two months ago.

Comcast is getting annoying with the constant price increases on Television service. THe VOIP is ok, but expensive compared to others, but it does work well and doesn't really take much to setup.

Comcast is an excellent service, but like you said, the price seems to go up every couple of months. for Phone, Cable with DVR and internet, we pay over $200 a month now. I looked into Verizon, but they did not have Fios in my area yet. On a happy note, I was in Walmart the other day and they had a huge bin of DVDs for $5 each with some really decent titles. Thats cheaper than a rent at Blockbuster I think.

We use the Blockbuster online service which is really good. Have not tried Netflix

Wow if that's the case I might just have to pony up for a bigger HD for my 360 and start DL some vids. I still occasionaly go to Hastings to rent movies. I too missed the increase in my bill statement. I think it's magic ink or something.

I think they also did a notification via the messages on the network.

I just have cable and internet, and I pay $157/mn. I have the upper tier internet, and digital cable, HD, sports, and two extra boxes. It's just really annoying. I remember when I was paying over $100 and had everything they offered.

Well, I'm glad I'm able to scale back my cable service. As I mentioned in another thread, I've probably cut $50 or more off this monthly service package (cable, internet). No need to give these folks money for stuff I'm not using.

I have Directv and they are still testing their VOD service, which actually downloads the shows over my internet connection. The great thing about renting a movie on PPV is that I can record it and keep it for more than the 24 hr watch period that the Video MP offers.

I have rented several HD movies from the 360 Video MP also. I do hope that their HD rental prices drop though. You can rent HD movies from iTunes for $4.99 vs. the $6 price MS is charging. It's only a dollar but after 5 rentals that is another movie I could have watched.

Quote:
Standard-definition movie rentals are $2.99 for library titles and $3.99 for new releases. And for just a dollar more, you can rent HD movies directly from your widescreen TV via Apple TV. Rent a movie and you have 30 days to start watching it. Hit Play, and you have 24 hours to finish it — or play it as many times as you want. Rentals disappear when they expire, so they won’t take up storage space on your hard drive.
