I'm surprised by The Golden Compass getting two nods, and Persepolis getting a nod for animated, even though it deserves it, I'm surprised by it.

I guess I need to cut back on Ratatouille and Over the Hedge and try some more adult-type selections (and not just the ones Keezy sends me...)

| There Will Be Blood and No Country for Old Men will dominated all the categories. I'm going to see TWBB tonight, so I'll have my predictions up tomorrow. | |

Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Lambertville, NJ Age: 32 | Having finally seen all the Best Picture & Best Director, I think that the Coen Bros. No Country For Old Men should win best director hands down, and There Will Be Blood should win for Best Picture. Two amazing movies this year. We tried to check out Persepolis again this weekend, but it was sold out at the Princeton Garden. I'd like to see it when I'm not tired and see if it truly deserves the animated oscar.

All of the nominations are fine choices, though.

The score itself is one of the most unique things I've ever witnessed, and it's a shame it was disqualified by the Academy. I can't understand how Daniel Day Lewis does what he does, but I'm thankful that he does it.
