| Trying to remember the name of two movies. Both movies -- I believe -- were made before the mid 90's.
The first movie involves a society where everyone is forced to being equal mentally by some headbands. They basically disrupt thought patterns and vary depending on who is wearing them. There is also a secret government that has contains only smart people who control everything from behind the scenes.
Mainly there was a war that happened before the movie started that had the smart people battle against the dumb ones, and the dumb people won. So the dumb people made it so everyone was equal. The idea behind it was so that everyone could end up being happy, and equal in all senses.
The people were wearing clothes from the 60's, complete with poodle dresses. At the end of the movie the protagonist kills himself on television with a gun. I believe that the movie was based off of a short story.
The second movie involves some guy dying, and for the rest of the movie he has to try and prove that his life had meaning. They do this in a courtroom, and they view videos of their life. The main way a life was deemed worthy is that they did not submit to fear, and tried to live full lives.
While a fellow his having his life being judged over, he is allowed to go out and meet a bunch of other people that is going through the same process. One of the people he meets is a girl, and he falls in love with her. The end of the movie involves him being rejected admittance into the afterlife, so he is being sent to live a new life. There he makes a daring attempt to escape and try and be with her.
If you could help... That would be awesome. >.> Well off to bed. |
