Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a fantastic game. The single-player experience is easily Infinity Ward's best work to date. Calling it intense may be an understatement. The overall story is standard action movie fare, but the relationships built over the short five hours of play are surprisingly strong. Though the single-player lacks length, the multiplayer should keep you invested in COD4 for the long winter. This is a truly fantastic multiplayer offering that's as deep as any other online game available.

Simply put, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is an instant classic. The fact that Infinity Ward has created a modern-day masterpiece probably isn’t surprising given their impressive track record to date, but our lofty expectations were actually surpassed in many ways. The single-player game was particularly surprising, as none of us expected the game to have such a compelling, narrative-driven campaign. It’s one of the best stories of the year, and it instantly thrusts Infinity Ward into the storytelling pantheon with developers like Valve and Irrational. Of course, one can’t forget the multiplayer, which is just as addictive as we hoped it would be. Infinity Ward has officially killed off the WWII FPS genre, and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for us next.

It may have been out for a while, I just got around to checking it out.
On a side note, I'm really disappointed there's no CTF mode. WTH? Think they're saving it for DLC?

As for CTF, meh. Not a particular fan of it myself. While TDM is by far my favorite, I like to see games moving away from the standard modes (dm, tdm, ctf). Looks like Cod4 has lots to choose from.

The review does say there are 6 gametypes, which should be plenty to keep people busy. I like TDM as well, but it gets old sometimes.

I do like the lack of any multiplayer achievements though. Kudos to that. SP seems short and very movie-like, but really fun to watch and play.

I love the vehicles. It's really tough to keep them balanced, but it's fun (imho) to be all together cruising toward a target.
It's all good. I like em both with and without. I still say that with a few adjustments, BF2MC could've been an incredible game for the 360, and that was vehicle-intensive for sure. Maybe the new one that Thornes was posting about (sorry man, can't remember the game's name) will fill that void.

While we're talking about sprint... WTF? Once you start sprinting you can't stop, or am I just doing it wrong? Is there a way to disable it completely so I don't accidentally start sprinting down a path when I'm trying to zoom in on a target?

I love vehicles in shooter games, so long as they aren't over-saturated on the maps. The only thing I'd like to see is that not just any GI Joe can jump right in and take off in a helo or tank... It should be a specialization for a few only.
