Seeing how snipers are supposed to be long-ranged killers who have to remain perfectly still to use that scope, any sniper on the run trying to use the scope should have the sight shake so much it makes it impossible to use. If you've played the moh demo & shot while sprinting (super hard to hit accurately), that would be fine since you technically can shoot while on the move. But they should be severely penalized for it.
Scumsucking snipers. | |

This is one of the key reasons I stopped playing Halo 2. However, things seemed better balanced in Halo 3... Not perfict but better.

It's only effective as a medium-long range weapon, very few can use it effectively in close quarters, and if I get killed by it oh well. But the M21 has such a large clip for a sniper and can be fired in pretty rapid succession, that it is effective in close quarters, and that's the problem. Lowering the fire rate would make it less effective, just like Bungie did with the Halo 3 sniper.

The best sniper in the Halo series books is a woman, and even she has to prepare to snipe, get in a fixed position, etc. Now, in the books that position may be hanging upside down from the ceiling of some alien structure, but she's still usually prone and steady as a rock. I like that they slowed down the rate of fire in H3 and the sniper fire seems much, much more tolerable. It'd be better still, though, if they kept it in line with the Halo Universe and made it where it's near impossible to jump or run and snipe, or to snipe while being shot through the man-cannon, etc.
Same thing with the snipers in COD4 and every other game. Make that part more realistic and the balance will be better. It's a fine line, but one the game companies should explore more. Anyway, there's my opinion, worth exactly what you paid for it.

Anyway, that's the problem I see with CoD4 and others with sniper rifles that aren't matched up right. Take GRAW for example - it works well in SP, but why do you not have to hold your breath in MP? You do in CoD3, which I think is a good setup for a sniper, really. At least Treyarch got that part right, imo. Add multiple rounds to a sniper rifle? in real life - whatever; in gameland, it just doesn't make it fair.

Man, ain't THAT the truth. That's about as bad as losing a close quarters match against a sniper.
| Thats COD and Counter-Strike for you...Even in Team Fortress and Halo. You mean Losing a Far Combat mission to a Shotgun spammer? lol cause Snipers in these games are kicking ass in close range. | |

| I have a reason for that... Master Chief, and every other spartan that plays multiplayer are more bad ass than Linda... I don't know if too many people would like it if they completely changed the sniper, I think that reducing the firing rate and the auto aim is enough to help keep the sniper in balance. | |
