Nice. It's a great hat, though.

I'm a little concerned that they may have condensed the weapon upgrades for the demo... you know, like they did with Crackdown in the demo? It may take longer in the real game to get weapons upgrades. Unless of course they've specifically stated somewhere that they have not done that.

They ACOG offers no advantage, doesn't add any zoom functionality and it takes up to much of the screen. The Red Dot is my favorite Attachment on most weapons. I'd have every attachment for every weapon by now if my 360 didn't die. But once I get my new one, watch out! Cause I'll be playing on my new 1080p monitor! Which is so much better then my old 480i TV.

The weapons thing really bothers me.

I'm concerned about the weapons thing, too. It's absolutely stupid imo to have players who sit on their ass all day playing & get all these killer weapons, but people who only play casually get p.o.s. ones. You know what happens next, right? The game quickly becomes a dust collector because it gets old being fodder for everyone else, meaning you're basically learning all about the respawn function.

I can hold my own in shooters, but it's lame when I'm dead more than alive simply because somebody has a more powerful weapon that I can't get until I've been killed for 2 hours of gameplay. That doesn't sound like a level playing field to me.

I think most games do a good job of not making the unlockable weapons too overpowered(some of which are really just well known guns) games like R6 are a good example of this because really its not hard to kill with weapons you get from the start. I'm only a sergeant in R6 Vegas and even after I unlock the AK-47 I'm still most likely going to use the Famas, I have used that gun in every Rainbow Six I've played and I don't see that changing soon. Besides all you can unlock in COD4 are different guns, and then scopes for those weapons its really not that hard to kill with iron sights if you don't play much.

Also... I think that if you play matchmaking, it will pair you with those that have similar ranks, and thus, similar weapons.

Exactly. I don't think the Matchmaking system is being fully implemented in the Beta. The final game should pair you with players of similar rank, not players who are 5+ levels higher than you. There just isn't enough players at the moment for that to take effect.

It think its rather fair even playing with players up to level 11 if you are level one but I am sure that in the final game a new player would never be matched up with a 25.

I think the lower the level you are, the closer everyone's level should be. Cause the low level's are the ones with the least amount of unlockables, just look at how much an 11 has over a 1.

Is matchmaking an automatic Live thing, or is it in the game itself?

I don't believe games are forced to use Matchmaking. But it is a fully developed system from Microsoft that helps save developers the time of creating their own. Most developers choose to use Matchmaking because of that reason, and that's why you see it in more games. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm no expert.

So why not have unranked play in which the host can set things up where all weapons are accessible and unlocked? We mostly play unranked here at PGL anyway. Seems kinda dumb to limit people. I'm with Eksir on this one.

I think that the cod beta is amazing!.. I love how they have the basic leveling up system, in conjunction with the mini challenges for each specific gun to unlock customizable scopes, camo exc... I personally think its much better than the R6 level up system. Instead of getting all random stuff thrown at you when you hit a certain rank, you can build up the guns and customize them at your own will. COD4 is a must buy for any call of duty fan. Word on the street is you can pre - order it and recieve a beta token? im not sure how true this is but theres no harm in tryin.. k guys catch yall on LIVE

Who said we won't be able to in the final release? The Beta is testing their Matchmaking Servers. If we're playing nothing but unranked custom games, how does that help them with their testing? The previous CoD's all had custom games, and so do most other games that use Matchmaking.

Question glitchy or me?

I've never been a fan of the COD series because the game play always seemed a little sticky to me, but COD4:MW beta is pretty damn fun. Except for one little thing... matchmaking, or whatever you want to call it. Sometimes I find a game in seconds, other times, it literally takes hours!!! Yes, yes, I know. Maybe its the ports on my router thats making a strict NAT and not letting me connect. But I've tried everything from opening the ports required by the xbox and others computer games, even opening all ports on the router, leaving my shit exposed to the net. Don't worry, I even unplugged it and have gone direct connection, its all the same.

But as far as the game play goes (when I get to play it):

Last Stand
is bullshit - So you pump enough bullets into a guy to kill him, so it makes sense that he should get a 'last stand' that then takes twice as many shots to finish him off. What?

I suck at the Sniper in this game. I guess thats my problem.

The Knife is great. But at times its way too much like the Halo 2 beat down, you strike and whoosh, you go flying by the dude to get shot in the back!

And a word to the wise... UAV Jammer and Silencer!
