Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Hendersonville, North Carolina Age: 40 | I think I may have played my last game... Of CoD4.
I just got off of the 360 and out of a few games of Cod4. What a load. Constants grenade tossing from nowhere, being killed repeatedly on spwan by helis, people randomly just shooting through walls because they know where you'll spawn, several people on the same team knowing the maps so well that they just get on top of all kinds of strange crap (including satellite dishes) and fire into the spawn locations...
No thanks. When the tards take over and ruin a game, it's time for me to move on. You guys that are good enough to compete in that kind of environment, my hat's off to you! That's not for me, though. I suppose I'll leave it on the shelf and see if I want to give it another try at some point, but tonight's games were absolutely ridiculous. At least 50% of the time that I was killed it was either by someone who never even saw me, or it was within 3 seconds of spawning.
Quo's got his happy pants on.

| Certain maps are like that. I had the same frustrations playing CoD4 a while back, but all FPSs evolve into that with time. I think that is the reason can't stick to one [versus] online shooter anymore, I have to migrate.
Sorry to hear about your troubles Quosef, at least now you more time to play Burnout with me!(if Gamestop ever gets any damn 360s in)

Parties are not allowed so there is less competition. CoD4 is a mixed bag, but for the most part I like it. You can alwasy join us for some GRAW2 on the new maps.

So, what's the solution for this obvious problem? Should we create a weapon class for dealing specifically with this issue? (i.e. have a class designed for long range shooting and rocket launchers.) Is it a problem with the game's perks system? (i.e. remove this "3-grenade" thing) Does a patch need to come down from IW/Activision to fix the spawning locations?

I haven't played in "the gang" in a long time. So I kicked off the CoD4's dust and stuck it in. I sound overly negative I guess. I had fun at times, but only because it was with the guys. Pickle was joking with me about meeting at the back of the map for a scotch at one point. I was absolutely up for that. Quote:

And Zoom, I think a patch from the developer is the only thing that fixes stuff like that. They need to touch up the maps as the game gets play, and they need to add an option for play so that you can set your room to "No Grenades" or at the very least kick out that stupid 3-grenade perk.
DLitch, you're right. Every game tends to degenerate over time, as the obsessive-types play it for hours and hours and hours and find every advantage and absolutely ruin it for the rest of us by running around in packs with other similarly obsessive-types. I have a healthy respect for games that fight against that by tweaking maps or gametypes. There are few.
Kroiky...I'm tempted to sell it... especially since my pet Keezy's disc has gone dumpsterlicious. I guess I'll hold on to it a little longer. We'll see. Madden goes to the return line today for a deposit on F:FoW. I have to play that for a month before the obsessives ruin that one.

I hear you on the frustation. There are some matches where that happens and it can suck for a few games. I just try to hang in there and have fun, usually pickle does a good job at getting me to laugh and still have fun even though I am having a round where I am going 6-20 (I am so glad I am done with that damn Skorpion gun!!)
I still enjoy the leveling up aspect of the multiplayer and just playing with some guys that like to have a good time.

Yep, playing with good peeps eases the pain some. the height of last night's frustration was when I was inside at the warehouse map (the one that was in the beta)... carrying a Saw. saw a dude run in another room, and I figure "this sucker will rip right through the walls, right? I've got my perks set to deep impact or whatever." so I blast through the wall at him, peg him a couple of times through the open doorway and he's dancing around in there. I figure he's hurt, so I'll just run in and finish him off (still firing, of course). I hit him from about 15 feet away with that thing, more than once. He pulls up his M16 and hits me once in the knees and i go down in a lump (I watched the replay and I thought blood might shoot out of my eyes I was so frustrated).

I recall one match I was playing in the ambush map and got shot out of nowhere, then I watch the killcam, and it shows me getting plugged through a palm tree. Not the leaves mind you, but the mother bleepin' foot thick trunk. I say a few unkind words and the poor controller (not it's fault the local fauna can't stop an M16 round) gets chucked across the room. But playing in a group with you guys seems to ease the pain a bit. I'm giving it a rest a while thanks to burnout, see you guys online!

But they're only bad when they're talking. They don't break the game. We will welcome back to the fold. To be clear, I'm not a CoD hater. Just a CoD not-for-me...-er and wanted to say something since the Halo-haters often turn to CoD4.

Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Hill Valley, 2015 Age: 25 | I hear you status Quo. Reasons like the ones you stated are the reasons I don't play the same shooters after a while. Games like Halo and Call of Duty are rather repetitive when looking at the overall picture. No matter who you play games with, it's the same thing over and over. I get tired of that quickly. These types of games aren't for everyone, and while I enjoy them on occasion, I have come to realize that the multiplayer aspect in these games really isn't for me.
I also think that there are different kinds of repetitiveness in games. A game like Guitar Hero 3, while repetitive in nature, doesn't seem to lose its' touch as quick as a shooter. Perhaps it's the coop online play? I can't say for certain. In comparing coop with a shooter, the shooter gets more repetitive quickly (Halo 3's coop didn't warrant a second play through at all. Horrible pacing/storyline integration).
Frankly, I want something new. Something fresh. Enough with the damned shooters already. Damnit, now I'm thinking about getting Burnout again...

Ya Quo I could tell that you were over it last night man.I hate that shit to,but like Serren and Brian were saying, hardcore can be a lot of fun.Its way more tactical.I think you should give it a shot. Also we have had so many people from pgl on that we could have some great private matches,I know most people dont want to play that cuz you dont rank up,but im sure a bunch off us would just like to play to have fun,

It really does knock out a lot of the nonsense. That, and my mute button. I use it often. It can make any game better. I became proficient with it during my Shadowrun days. That game is about 90-95% douchebags.
