| I just did some more testing on this unit in regards to it's network ability. All I can say is AWESOME. This thing without a hitch jumped onto my home network, and found the computer that has much of my audio and video files.
I was able to copy files and folders wirelessly across the network to my Archos. I copied an entire album in about a minute and a half (AC/DC's Back In Black). The built in file explorer worked just like it I was hoping.
Now the cool thing, streaming! I was able to stream both video files and music across the network. The video playback quality was as good as the source material, with no slow downs or hiccups. Very cool. Audio was the same thing. The system did slow down to a crawl after I pointed the Archos's music browser at 35,000 songs. The song that I selected never had any problems, but while the Archos was queuing (sp?) up, it was very unresponsive menu wise. So it palyed fine, and was on shuffle fine, just changing settings was affected. Browsing single albums or subfolders did not result in any of these behavior issues.
The cool thought I had is that I can now stream music anywhere in my house using the Archos's line out cable. Very cool. I was trying to figure a way to wire some speakers or something out in my backyard. Now I just need to get a portable stereo or boombox that has a aux line in, which many have these days anyway.
If anyone has specific questions, please ask. I will do my best to run tests of the features or options you would like examined. |
