I love this kind of argument. Last time I looked, drug dealing was illegal, as was presenting minors with pornography. The Wii is a product that is marketed to children and families. Suppose there were candy stores on main street that sold Cocaine lollipops, right next to normal lollipops. Would that be right, or acceptable, just because they were out there doing it? Would it be right, or acceptable because we live in a free country? Since when is the absence of morality supported by, or endorsed by the presence of capitalism?
Parents,
as always, bear the responsibility of monitoring what their children have access to.
It's my personal opinion that companies that market products to children have a moral obligation to support families in protecting children from things that are patently bad for their development and/or destructive to the family unit. The "nobody's making you look at the site" argument is just companies turning a blind eye toward it because it's inconvenient to think about such things. The Wii doesn't need a browser. It's a marketing gimmick.
