I did a paper recently on violent video games and their effect on children, and I basically share the same thoughts you guys do. Bottom line, it's the parents that are to blame for their childs behavior, not some video game.

I think many people look by movies because they are passive, meaning there is no physical interaction between you and what's happening on screen. While it may seem logical to do that, our brain still processes information the same way regardless if we are interacting with something. Watching a violent movie like Goodfellas or Scarface should be on the same line as playing Gears of War.
