I couldn't find the exact launch day numbers, but by the end of the year they were approximately

US: 900,000
EU: 500,000
JP: 100,000

And these are numbers sold, not Sony's "number shipped" they often toss around.

I forgot to mention my source. Its from Microsoft's FY2006 2nd Quarter Report. Its floating around in powerpoint form on their site.
