| Ooooover Raaaaated Ducks leave Columbus with Big Horseshoe prints on their asses! #6 Oregon 7 #10 The Ohio State University 16
The Bucks had a great defensive gameplan. This game was last week, or maybe the week before, so I don't remember much about the game except the halftime lead of 2-0 (?) I think OSU made great use of their tight ends, which were often left totally off of Oregon's coverage package. A long TD in the 3rd quarter came off a screen to the left side of the field. Funny thing is, the QB didn't dump the ball to the screened player. The TE was so wide open (I assume OhioPro was shocked but happy to see this) that the QB lobbed it over the line for a lumbering TD to go up 9-0. By this time, Schlick was so dumbfounded and panicked by repeated sacking that the only option was to heave it down the middle a couple of times. Blind luck worked (and maybe a blessing or two by great offensive personnel--assuredly not the coach) and the Ducks scored on an 80+ yard pass. OhioPro sweater-vested his team down the field for the kill in the 4th, using up much of the clock and making the final tally 16-7.
It was a fun game, OhioPro. I should have asked for a rematch and another waxing and just stayed up all night with the Xbox, because my wife gave me the cold shoulder for trying to beat Ohio State. It didn't matter that I lost in the attempt! (At least those Texas/Ohio State matches are over. You should have seen us fighting in the stands in Austin! Maybe I'll post a picture.) And I'll think of you when I'm sitting there with her, watching Ohio State in their third consecutive national championship game come January. I have zero doubt that they'll be there again this year!
Note to other coaches: If you find something that works against me, keep doing it! I don't want to bother with changing my fantastic game plan. |
