Nah man, never fought in a cage. Me and two other bigger guys used to hit the mats once a week and train. Our idea of training was learning a few moves for a few minutes and then jumping straight in and fighting. We'd rotate out in 5 minute rounds so you fought for 10 minutes on and 5 minutes out for about 45 min or so. I loved it and hated it at the same time. I was skinner back then (175 lbs), so the only thing I had going for me was a powerful low kick and flexibility. I could pull out of submissions fairly easily and submit other guys. The guys I fought with always hated it because arm bars did nothing to me. I'd just pop my shoulder out and twist it and an arm bar didn't even hurt.

I also have a really long reach (my arms are insanely long), but I have no idea how to use them. When it comes to punching, I suck.
I agree with you on the respect though. Just from what I've done, I can tell you that you have to be in INSANELY great shape to stay in a ring for even 5 minutes, much less longer. The guys that do that have my respect. It's not easy.
Sounds like you've got quite a resume. Rolled with Matt Hughes and Tim Silvia?? That rocks man. I'd kill to spar with Matt Hughes some time.
