Hey MoFo's!
Da Basics:
There’s always going to be a squad, team, or douche that just wipes the floor with everyone else because they’re insanely good at a game or are otherwise unstoppable. It’s crap getting your ass handed to you & after a while, people drop off because -
let’s face it – there’s no way you or your team is gonna beat some other hoser because teams aren't always even when it comes to mad skillz.
The system we’ll be using for this tourney sort of caps that off by using a tier system; the point behind it is to let squads compete with squads that are at their own skill level – and win accordingly - by awarding points to let your squad ‘rise up’ to the higher tier, or by winning in a lower tier, dig?
So what will happen is, squads that are very skilled will rise to the top and have a chance to win first place, squads that are average will have a chance to win second place, and squads that have me on their team will have a chance to win third place,
and squads that can’t beat mine will get tossed out to go get samiches… Da Rulz
There are three brackets - or ‘tiers’ - to this tourney. The tier your squad is in will be determined by the amount of wins (points) your squad has.
Points are awarded for winning each round in a four-round match. The goal is to win enough points to move from the third tier (the lowest) to the first tier (the highest). Each squad begins with zero points:
- Third tier: 0 – 3 points
- Second Tier: 4 – 6 points
- First Tier: 7 – 9 points
- Sudden Death: 10+ points (for a tie only)
The first squad to have the
highest amount over 9 points will be the
overall winning squad in first place (all totals will be held until the last matches for that night are tallied, and the highest tie over 9 points will be determined by a final Sudden Death, no respawns, best two-out-of-three match). Once the first tier has been won, it is closed down and all squads in the first tier are finished with the tournament;
they win nothing.
The remaining squads
in the second tier then have an opportunity to win second place by reaching the maximum points +1 (for example: second tier is 4 - 6 points; to win the second tier, a squad needs to have 7 points). Any ties will be determined by Sudden Death.
The remaining squads in the third tier will have an opportunity to win third place by winning the maximum points +1 (4 points), with the highest tie determined by Sudden Death.
If all remaining squads have moved to the second tier, the third tier is closed down, and there will be no third place. Likewise, if there is only one squad left in the third tier during the week that the first tier is won (squads have to play out their scheduled event), that squad is finished and the third tier is closed down also; they win nothing – there has to be at least two squads in the third tier for one of them to win third place.
**Because there are only four squads in this tourney, if there ends up being a squad in the third tier, a squad in the second tier, and two squads in the first tier, the losing squad from the first tier can still win second place by playing first against the third tier (winner advances). If a squad remains in the third tier, or the squad that lost the first tier loses - they are out.
**
If, at any time during this event, a squad is the only squad in a tier, they will have an ‘off-week’ until other squads move up into that tier. A squad does NOT advance to the next tier until the following week, regardless of how many points they have at the end of their scheduled event.
If a squad is the final squad in the lowest tier, they will have ONE MATCH with a squad in a higher tier, playing three rounds of the lower-tiered game settings, one round of the higher-tiered game settings. If, after points are tallied, they can not advance to the next tier - they are out.
Squad Set up: You don't have to create a squad if you don't want to - I'll put everyone on a squad who's signed up to play. However, if you want some control over who you want on your team - get together with two others
(for three people total) and PM me your squad. This doesn't mean you'll be the only people on the team; people will be placed to balance squads out. Let's keep the squad creation done behind the scenes (ie PMs or on XBL) so that it doesn't get messy.
Sudden Death: this will only be used IF two or more squads in a tier end up tied after a tier point max has been reached. If three or more squads tie, each squad will have multiple sudden death events scheduled, until a squad has won more than the others.
Alternates: Alternates can be used by any squad, at any time - if they show up.
Bonus POINTAGE: If your squad is down a player and you win, you'll get a .5 bonus for each round won (4 rounds to a match, max of +2). Serious coinage...
DRAWS will win both teams 1/2 a point (.5), unless it's a sudden death match.
Da Gametypes:
Each tier has a specific map, gametype, restriction (all in that class), and 10 minute rounds. Host is up to the participating squads (figure it out prior to the event).
HOST: be sure to check settings:
- Third Tier: Team Deathmatch, Import/Export, unlimited respawns no shotguns.
- Second Tier: Team Leader, Villa, no light machine guns.
- First Tier: Attack & Defend, Murdertown, two respawns, no explosives.
- Sudden Death: Team Deathmatch, Presidio, NO RESPAWNS, with no weapon restrictions.
Feel free to ask questions if you have them, and sign up here; I will keep the roster current with edits, and squads will be created according to
THIS POST. Remember to put an 'A' after your gamertag if you're only interested in being an alternate.
