We use it for a couple of things... it's just a good habit to get in to because for some games like H3 we need the host to have the gametype already at his fingertips. If we know how many are coming we can make sure we have enough hosts.
Plus, when new people come to the site they can see how many people will be online playing and it's kinda cool to know there will be a bunch of adults playing.
It's not that big of deal... we almost always make host decisions on the fly. But it's nice to be able to see who's coming to the party.
