| I hear you Geoff on the cost. I didn't realize you guys were paying that much on games. That totally blows. Obviously I've never worked in retail, but I don't see how you guys make money with only a 10% markup that's suppose to cover labor and various other fixed and variable cost. I know Goodguys for speakers did a 100% markup; I got speakers at cost from a buddy using his employee discount, and they got stuff at cost.
I try to support locals all the time, especially music. I buy a lot of used games, music and movies. I only purchase about six new games a year, and get at least that in used. I will get a game new if it is as used prices, $20 to $30.
The sales tax in my area is $.07375 or $4.42 based on a $59.99 game.
As good street dates, I used to love to pre-order Dreamcast games from Sega directly. They shipped all the games on the same no matter the destination. Since I only live about forty minutes from Sega of America (San Francisco), I would get games three days before the street date. I was totally stoked on Crazy Taxi when it arrived, LOL. |
